How It Works

The Shutter Circle Awards Competition is designed to be accessible, affordable and rewarding. Here’s everything you need to know:

• Community Judging

We don’t want to have your creations judged by a select few ‘Industry Experts‘, we want YOU to be the Judges! The contest will be open to any and all registered users of the Shutter Circle Website Community to cast their votes.

For Entry and Vote security, we require ALL participants to have a Google Account for Sign-in.

• Bi-Monthly Competitions

The awards run every two months — giving you a regular opportunity to submit fresh work and test yourself creatively throughout the year. Each new round is a chance to showcase your recent images, experiment with different styles or subjects, and see how your photography evolves over time.

• Entry Cost and Submissions

We want to keep the barriers low and the benefits high. For just £10 per entry, you can submit up to five images. Enter your best single shot — or maximise your chances with a small series. It’s entirely up to you.

• Prestigious Awards

- Gold Award – for truly exceptional images that stand out for their creativity, technical skill and impact.
- Silver Award –for outstanding photographs that demonstrate excellence and originality.
- Commended Award – Images that the Shutter Circle Leadership Team recognise for showing remarkable merit and deserve to be showcased.

All awarded images will feature on the Shutter Circle website and social channels — giving your work exposure to our growing community of photographers, creatives and industry professionals.

The Winning Images will have the Shutter Circle Winners Logo Applied for use anywhere you want!

Terms and Conditions

Shutter Circle Community Awards – Terms & Conditions

By entering the Shutter Circle Community Awards, you agree to the following terms:

1. Image Ownership & Rights

You retain full ownership and copyright of your images at all times.
Shutter Circle does not claim any ownership, licensing, or long-term usage rights over your photographs.
Images are only submitted for the purposes of entry into this competition.

2. Limited Usage Permission

By entering, you grant Shutter Circle permission to use your submitted images only in connection with promoting the Community Awards (e.g. announcing winners, showcasing results, or highlighting the competition).
This may include:
- Social media posts on Shutter Circle’s official channels.
- Display on the Shutter Circle website in relation to the awards.
- Marketing materials directly related to promoting the awards.
Your name and credit will always be included when your image is featured.

3. Entry Requirements

Each entry costs £10 and allows up to 5 image submissions.
Entries must be submitted before the published deadline for that round.
Images must be your own original work. By entering, you confirm that you are the copyright holder and have the right to submit the images.

4. Judging & Voting

Gold and Silver Awards are decided by community voting (likes).
Commended Awards are selected by the Shutter Circle Leadership Team.
The decisions of the community and leadership team are final.

5. Conduct

Images must not contain offensive, defamatory, or unlawful material.
Shutter Circle reserves the right to disqualify entries that breach these terms.

6. Liability

Shutter Circle will not be held responsible for any claims arising from copyright infringement if you submit work that is not your own.
Shutter Circle is not liable for technical issues that prevent submission or voting.

7. Agreement

By submitting your images, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms & Conditions.
